There is a lot of conflicting information about macros online. In this two-minute video, WarriorBabe co-founder Nikkiey Stott clears up three of the most common myths so you don't waste time on your journey.
Nikkiey explains that macros are not a set-it-and-forget-it number. Your body gets used to the same numbers, and results stall if you never adjust them. A macro plan should also be custom-tailored to your body, your age and your goals. What works for a 30-year-old isn't what a woman over 50 should follow, and toning and shaping calls for a different plan than maintaining and adding muscle.
She also addresses the fear that tracking is a life sentence. You track for a while to learn the fundamentals and build the habits. Once you understand what and how much you're eating, you can stay on track without logging everything forever. She sees learning macros as a healthy, lifelong skill.
Key takeaways
- Nikkiey explains that you should not follow the same macros all the time, because macros need to be adapted and changed to keep making progress.
- If you keep the same macro numbers for a long time, your body gets used to them and your results become stagnant.

- Your age matters: Nikkiey says someone who is 50-plus cannot follow what someone who is 30-plus is doing.
- Your personal goal shapes your plan, because toning and shaping needs a different strategy than maintaining weight and putting on muscle.
- You do not have to track macros forever, but you do need to track for a while to learn the fundamentals and habits first.

Nikkiey: What's up, everybody? Nikkiey here with WarriorBabe, and today I'm going to share with you some macro myths. There's so much information about macros all over the internet. What is true, what is not? That is what I'm going to share with you today. So smash the like button right now, and let's dive into it.
Number one: you follow the same macros all the time. Wrong. Macros have to be adapted to and changed to continue making progress. This is so important to understand. If you keep the same macro numbers for a long duration, your body will just get used to them, and your results will become stagnant.
Number two: macros means you have a custom-tailored plan. This is true. Bada-bing, bada-boom, truth. But you need to make sure they are custom-tailored to your unique body type. Every body is completely different. No body is the same. Plus, your body stats: somebody who's 50-plus years old cannot be following what somebody who's 30-plus years old is doing. And your personal goals: toning and shaping requires different strategies and a different game plan than somebody who wants to maintain weight and put on some muscle.
Number three: you have to track them forever. Wrong. Once you understand the fundamentals and track for a while, you'll have a grasp on what you're eating, how much you're eating, and how to go about life staying on track. I mean, imagine constantly tracking macros for the rest of your life. That just wouldn't work, and you don't have to do that. But you do need to learn the habits with macros first. Learning macros is a healthy, lifelong skill that will serve you for the rest of your life.
