What does an online fitness coach actually do for you?
Answered by Nikkiey Stott · Updated
The short answer
An online fitness coach gives you a plan, weekly accountability and honest, objective feedback. On The WarriorBabe Show, Nikkiey Stott explains that coaches review your weekly check-ins, photos and biofeedback, then respond with support, nudges and tough love. What a coach can't do is the work itself. Your meals and workouts are still yours.

The full answer
Nikkiey describes a WarriorBabe coach's job as a few distinct pieces:
- Weekly accountability. You submit check-ins, photos and a biofeedback or adjustment form covering your whole week. Nikkiey says clients often tell her they stick to the plan because they know a Friday check-in is coming.
- Support and pushback. The coach responds with encouragement, nudges and tough love, and calls you out where you need it.
- An objective view. Nikkiey likes to say the coach looks at your situation from 30,000 feet up. They don't get pulled into your frustrations or excuses, so they can give unbiased feedback instead of enabling what keeps you stuck.
- Investment in your results. She says knowing someone is tracking your progress and rooting for you makes it harder to skip a workout or drift from your nutrition plan.
On Ep. 153, Nikkiey adds two things she learned as a client during her bodybuilding years. Working with a coach improved how she communicated, with the coach and in her personal and professional life. She also asks new clients to "trust us now and believe us later," because many women arrive with doubts after plans that failed them before. If past programs didn't work, that says more about the programs than about you.
Nikkiey is just as clear about the limits. On Ep. 163 she says coaches, trainers and programs give you the best tools, plans and guidance, but they can't stand in your kitchen meal prepping or do your workouts. You still have to apply the plan consistently over weeks and months. On Ep. 113 she frames motivation as a two-way street: roughly 50 percent from the coach and 50 percent from you. She also points out that motivation is an emotion, and emotions come and go. Honesty runs both ways too. The coach can only help with what you actually report.

How do I stay consistent when I have no motivation?
Stop waiting for motivation and build discipline instead. Nikkiey explains that motivation is an emotion that ebbs and flows and will run dry, often weeks or months in. Discipline means acting in line with your long-term goals despite how you feel, and you build it the same way you build muscle: by showing up day after day.

How do I find my why for getting fit?
Keep asking yourself why until you get past the surface goal. Nikkiey says losing weight, toning up or looking good in a bikini are fine goals but superficial. Ask why you want them, again and again, until you reach an emotional reason, like being a role model for your kids or keeping up with your grandkids.
