In this video

Most women who have tried everything don't fail for lack of a good plan. They fail because of a few patterns that quietly derail them. In this rally call, the coach works through four of the 30 major causes of failure she has been reading about: lack of self-discipline, procrastination, lack of persistence and lack of a strong power of decision.

She explains that self-discipline starts with noticing your own habits, like wandering into the kitchen at night, and choosing differently in the moment. It also means learning to love the woman in the mirror at every stage, because you cannot hate yourself into results. She is blunt that there is never a right time to start, that results take longer than a microwave society expects, and that persistence is a muscle you build every day.

The call closes with a simple assignment: pick the one cause that is holding you back most and focus on it this week. Along the way she also explains why setting clear goals and knowing your why matter in your first 14 days, and where new members should go to find answers before asking in the group.

Key takeaways

  • Self-discipline starts with being consciously aware of the moments you sabotage yourself, like standing in the kitchen at night, and telling yourself you don't need it.
  • If you do not conquer yourself, you will be conquered by yourself: mastering your own negative habits is the foundation of discipline.
  • Learn to love the person looking back at you in the mirror at every stage of the journey, because you cannot hate yourself into results.
  • There is never a right time to start; begin where you stand with the tools and resources you have right now.
  • Being a good starter is not enough: expect plateaus and slow weeks, and keep going instead of quitting at the first sign of defeat.
  • Treat persistence as a muscle and work it with persistent action every day.
  • Make a firm, committed decision that you will reach your goals no matter what obstacles come up, then start immediately, since indecision and procrastination travel together.
  • Choose the one cause of failure holding you back most and focus on fixing it this week.

Questions answered

When is the right time to start a fitness program?

The coach says there is never a right time to start anything, and you will always face challenges. She says to start where you stand right now and work with whatever tools you have, because waiting means you could still be waiting three to five months from now.

How do I stop snacking at night when I walk into the kitchen?

She says you first have to be consciously aware that you are walking into the kitchen and standing there, then tell yourself you don't need it. That awareness and choice in the moment is what self-control looks like.

Why do I lose motivation a few weeks into a new program?

According to the coach, many programs hand you workouts and food without helping you set a goal, so motivation and momentum fade within two or three weeks. Knowing exactly what you want to accomplish and why gives you the desire to push through.

What should I do when results slow down or I hit a plateau?

She says many people give up at the first sign of defeat, but results won't come overnight. Keep practicing persistence with daily action, because failure and defeat cannot cope with persistent action.

Can being hard on myself help me get results?

No. The coach says you cannot hate yourself into results, and that you need to love the person in the mirror no matter what phase of the journey you are in.

Coach: What's up, WarriorBabes? Hey, everyone. We're here and we're live. Oh, man. I almost thought I was going to have the same thing happen that happened last week, but we're here and we're good. So welcome to our Sunday WarriorBabe Revolution Rally Call. So excited to be here with you guys. We'll get started in just a few minutes. So go leave a comment inside of the group to let them know that we're live, that this is working, that they want to get on this call. Go leave a comment inside the Facebook group and let them know this call is getting started.

Before we dive into the topic, I want to give a huge welcome to all of the new WarriorBabes who joined us this week. You are all now a part of a community of thousands of women who are becoming stronger, more confident versions of themselves. WarriorBabe, where strong is the new sexy.

I am so excited that we have so many new WarriorBabes in here, and I'm so excited for all the veteran WarriorBabes who are still kicking ass. The really cool thing about that is you've got the veteran WarriorBabes who have had results, who are crushing the program, who are inspiring new WarriorBabes coming into the group. And you've got all the new WarriorBabes coming into the group lighting the fire under all of the veteran WarriorBabes, because they're so excited, so the veterans have to keep pushing. How cool is that? So awesome.

Just to reiterate, if you're new to WarriorBabe, we do these rally calls every Sunday now, at 6 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. Make sure you set your calendars and set your alarms before this call gets started so that you don't miss out, because each week I'm lighting you up with some fire motivation and some fire content so that you can move into your next week strong. What's really cool about doing them on Sundays now is that Monday's tomorrow. You're going to go to bed after this with some motivation, and then tomorrow you'll be ready to hit the ground running. That's what these are for, and that's what's so awesome about them: you're going to be lit up knowing why you're here and the goals you want to accomplish, and then you're going to succeed in hitting them this week.

We'll dive into this topic, which I think is really going to help you. It's something that I'm reading right now, and I'm going to share a couple of insights I took away from it that I feel will help you in insane amounts.

Before we get started, I want to go through a couple of updates. If you're new to WarriorBabe, you're going to hear me say this until you're blue in the face, and all the veteran WarriorBabes are probably so sick of me saying it, but I can't reiterate it enough. You're getting emails daily for the first 14 days that you're part of this journey. Those emails are so vitally important for your success here inside of WarriorBabe.

You're going to move through mindset material that's going to help you set your goals and know exactly what you're here to accomplish. It's going to help you understand why you're here to accomplish those goals for yourself. What is it deep inside of you that wants so badly to hit these goals? Once you understand that and it's there on the surface, it gives you more and more desire to push through, because you know exactly what you're here to do. Not a lot of programs do that. They just hand you a program, workouts and what food to eat, and then you're off and running.

And then you wonder in two or three weeks why you've lost motivation and momentum. It's because you haven't set a goal for yourself. That's what those first 14 days are going to help you do, and they're so important to go through. They're in two spots: in your emails, and inside the units tab in the Facebook community. So if you're someone who wants to dive all in and get those 14 days done in seven, you can go to the units tab in the Facebook community and go through all of the videos and all of the tasks that I'm recommending for you.

All right, new WarriorBabes, please don't come into the community asking questions that can be easily answered inside of your application. Don't come into the community and be a social butterfly and use that as a distraction from the results that you're here to get. Take the time to search inside the application for your questions. Take the time to get used to this application, to get used to this lifestyle, to get used to the content that I'm giving you.

Over time, that's going to help you with long-term success. So take the time. If you have a question, look inside the application. Play around with it by clicking buttons and swiping left on the home screen so you can see all the other features inside there. Listen to everything that I'm sharing with you. This method works. It's helped thousands of women, if not more by now. All you have to do is implement what I'm telling you inside the app and take action.

So find your questions there. If you can't find them inside the app, go to the Frequently Asked Questions section of our resource page. If you swipe left on the home screen, you'll see Need Help, and that takes you right to our Frequently Asked Questions resource page, which is basically a platform built with all of our most frequently asked questions. If the question can't be answered inside the app or in the Frequently Asked Questions, then you can head to the Facebook group and ask your fellow WarriorBabes or our community manager. You can tag me too. If you have questions specifically for us, you can tag both of us and we'll get back to you with answers.

Support should be the last place you go. It shouldn't be where you ask about a workout or a macro question. Support should only be used for technical issues or membership questions.

All right, babes, let's dive into this topic. I want to talk through the major causes of failure. There are 30 of them, but I'm not going to run through all 30. Oh, it's telling me I have poor connection. So I'm going to say today's topic again, because it's telling me I have poor connection: the 30 major causes of failure.

I'm only going to choose a couple that I feel are super pertinent to my situation, because if I'm going through it, you're going through it too and just not talking about it. I'm going to share some things I feel are going to resonate with you and back them up with things that can help you so that you don't fail and you move forward. You're going to realize how many of these failures are actually holding you back from accomplishing what you want to accomplish.

The first one, which I shared in my story yesterday, is the lack of self-discipline. This can go so far. One thing I can say for myself is that I've had a hell of a lot of discipline in my journey. But it wasn't always like that. I struggled at the beginning. I used to love sweets.

That's all I used to eat. I used to drink Mountain Dew like it was water, and I used to eat candy, like Smarties and Nerds Ropes and anything that was sweet. I wasn't a big chocolate person. It was just anything sweet. That's all I would eat during the day, with maybe one good healthy meal.

So lack of self-discipline: maybe this is holding you back. Discipline comes through self-control, and that means you need to control any negative qualities you find in yourself. If you are someone who goes into the kitchen at night and just stands there looking at food, and five minutes later you find your hand inside an M&M jar, that's not self-control. You're allowing that control over yourself. You need to control those specific situations, but before you do that, you have to control yourself. You have to be consciously aware of when this is happening.

If you are somebody who walks into the kitchen at night, you have to be consciously aware that you're taking those actions, and when you're standing inside the kitchen, you have to say, no, I don't need this. That's self-control. Self-mastery and self-control are some of the hardest things you will ever tackle. But if you do not conquer yourself, you will be conquered by yourself. That's a killer phrase right there: if you do not conquer yourself, you will be conquered by yourself.

You have to master being consciously aware of the negative qualities that sabotage you, learn to be disciplined, and seek the self-control you're after. And it's not going to happen overnight. Let me reiterate that: none of the things I'm talking about are going to happen overnight. The main thing I always say about failure is that you are going to fail; you just have to fail forward. So if you have these negative qualities, like going into the kitchen and snacking at night, let this be a reminder that that's not self-control. You're being conquered by yourself. You need to step forward, be consciously aware of it and take control, because being self-controlled is the end-all, be-all of winning at self-discipline.

This is probably going to hit home for a lot of you. You may see, at one and the same time, both your best friend and your greatest enemy when you stand in front of a mirror. How many times have you looked in the mirror and seen someone you love, but at the same time something you hate? That hate side of things is a negative quality. It's negative chatter going on inside your head. Self-control is being able to look at that person in the mirror and love her no matter what. Love yourself no matter what phase you're in. If you're at the beginning and you're 200 pounds, you still need to look in that mirror and love who is looking back at you, because you cannot hate yourself into results.

So again, you may see at one and the same time both your best friend and your greatest enemy by stepping in front of the mirror. How powerful is that? To be self-disciplined and in self-control, you need to eliminate the enemy, see yourself with love and love yourself through every part of the journey. That was one of the major causes of failure: lack of self-discipline. If that's holding you back, mark it down and take action on what I just said to do.

The next one, and this is really good, is procrastination. How many of you are procrastinators? It's one of the most common causes of failure. Old man procrastination stands within the shadow of every human being, waiting for his opportunity to spoil your chances of success.

How many of you go through life waiting for the right time, waiting for the time to be right, to start doing something worthwhile? That is procrastination. How many of you have said, I'm going to start WarriorBabe in a week because I've got to get through some things first? Then you're still getting through some things, and you push it to the next week. That is procrastination. There is never a right time to start anything.

One thing I have to tell you right now: do not ever wait. The time will never be just right. If you are struggling to even get started on this program, there will be no right time. You will always be faced with challenges. You have to start where you stand right now and work with whatever tools you have at your command: the resources, the application, the workouts. As you put in the work, you will be backed by better resources and provided better tools that you'll find along your journey.

What matters most is that you kick procrastination in the ass and get started right now, no matter what it is. If it's you worrying about macros, if it's you being afraid to implement the food, if you find yourself just making excuses: procrastination, procrastination, procrastination. Kick it in the butt right now. Do not wait. Start where you are and start working and taking action.

Procrastination is one of the leading things that can totally get in the way of your results. If you don't start now, you're going to be looking three, four, five months down the road and still be waiting to start. Don't let that get in your way.

Let's see here. Lack of persistence is another really, really good one. Most of you are probably super excited that you're starting this journey. You're excited that you're a WarriorBabe. You're excited to dive all in. You're a really good starter, right?

But you're a poor finisher of everything you begin. Maybe you're crushing it two or three weeks in, you're crushing it one month in, two months in, and then you start to trip up. I know I'm talking to so many of you on this call right now. You're a good starter, but you're a poor finisher at everything you do.

People are prone to give up at the first signs of defeat. You go two to three weeks in and say, results are stopping, why am I not seeing results? One month in: I'm not seeing results. You're prone to give up at the first signs of defeat. This is the lack of persistence. Honestly, I think this one, even more than procrastination, has got to stop. We live in a microwave society where people want results yesterday.

That's not going to happen here. You need to exercise that persistence muscle if you want to succeed in this program. There is no substitute for persistence. The person who succeeds is the one who takes persistent action on a daily basis. So you need to work out that persistence muscle on a daily basis.

Here's what happens to people who start and then are poor finishers, who start and then fail, who start and then give up at the signs of defeat. That failure muscle gets so tired that it just gives up. That's where you focus on moving forward with persistent action.

I just talked to one of the babes inside of the Blueprint before we got on here, and she said, at this point I would normally just give up. I'm not seeing results. She's seen awesome results. She was down about 16 pounds, and now she's coming through a little plateau. She said, normally I would just give up. Now she's practicing her persistence muscle. You've got to practice that persistence muscle.

Because failure and defeat cannot cope with persistent action. You've got to be persistent in the pursuit of the goals you want to accomplish. You've got to be a good starter, and you've got to be a good finisher. And if you come up against defeat, you've got to be persistent in pushing through.

This is fire, you guys. I'm just going to let that all soak in. So far we've gone through the lack of self-discipline, procrastination and the lack of persistence. I feel like I could break this down into multiple rally calls, because there are 30 of these and I'm not going through all 30.

The last one I'm going to finish off our call with today is a lack of a strong power of decision. I go through this in the units and in the blast off. It's making a committed decision to the goals you want to accomplish. You have to make the decision immediately, promptly. You have to make the decision that you are going to do it.

Indecision and procrastination are twin brothers: where one is found, the other will usually be found also. You have to kill off this pair before they completely hogtie you to the treadmill of failure. You have to make the decision that no matter what challenges or obstacles you face, you are committed to the journey and committed to your goals.

Then you have to allow no procrastination and take action. You have to make the decision right now as a WarriorBabe that you are going to complete your goals, that you're going to see yourself through them, and then you have to start. I'm going to say that again: you, as a WarriorBabe, have to make the strong decision right now that no matter what, you're going to see your goals through, and then you have to start.

How many of you are still waiting to start? How many of you are still tripping up? Make the strong decision to attach yourself to your goals, and then start doing it. Then seek persistence. Practice. Work out your persistence muscle every day.

All right, babes, let me know how you enjoyed this rally call. Go into the Facebook group and leave some feedback. If you want me to do another one calling out more of these failures and what's holding you back, I could totally dive into a whole other rally call going even deeper on some of these.

So take into consideration what I said today. Number one was the lack of self-discipline. Number two was procrastination. Number three was a lack of persistence. Number four was a lack of a strong power of decision. Which one of those is holding you back the most? Choose one and focus on it this week. I'll catch you on our Q&A on Wednesday. Love you guys. Have a kick-ass week. Bye. Thank you.
