If tracking macros still feels like a chore, with days you end up over, under, or unsure how to make the numbers line up, this short talk is for you. Nikkiey Stott shares an idea from the book she was reading, The Power of Your Subconscious Mind: habits live in your subconscious, and you build them by consciously repeating something until it lays down tracks there.
She compares learning macros to learning to swim, ride a bike, dance or drive a car. Each one took deliberate effort over and over until it ran on autopilot. Nikkiey is honest that when she first learned macros, she didn't take it seriously for weeks and told herself she didn't have time. Tracking only became second nature through repetition, and members who have tracked for a year or two tell her they don't even think about it anymore.
The message is simple and practical. Decide to put in the conscious effort every day, expect to fall off the way you fell off your bike, keep getting better, and don't jump to a new program after two weeks. The skill gets easier the more you do it, and it will serve you for the rest of your life.
Key takeaways
- Habit is a function of your subconscious mind, and you build a new habit by consciously repeating an action until it establishes tracks there.
- Treat macro tracking like learning to swim, ride a bike, dance or drive: deliberate repetition is what eventually makes it automatic.
- Decide each day, on purpose, that you are going to track your macros because it moves you toward your goals, rather than tracking as you go and hoping for the best.
- Let go of limiting beliefs like 'this is too much work' or 'I don't have time' and attach more positive thoughts to the practice.
- Expect to fall off at the beginning, just as you fell off your bike, and focus on getting a little better each time.
- Don't quit after two weeks to hunt for another program; the skill only gets easier if you stay with it.
- New members should take the 14 days of blast-off emails seriously, since each one gives a single task to set up long-term success.
Questions answered
How do you make tracking macros a habit?
Nikkiey explains that you consciously track your macros over and over, deciding each day that you're going to do it, until it establishes tracks in your subconscious mind. At that point the habit runs automatically and becomes second nature.
Does tracking macros ever get easier?
Yes. Nikkiey says it gets easier and easier the more you do it, and women who have tracked for a year or two tell her they don't even think about it anymore.
What if I keep messing up when I track my macros?
Nikkiey compares it to learning to ride a bike: you fell off many times, and you'll fall off with macros too. If you keep getting better instead of quitting, it gets easier until it's second nature.
Should I switch programs if tracking macros feels too hard after a couple of weeks?
Nikkiey advises against falling off after two weeks to look for another program. If you learn the skill of tracking macros, she says it will serve you for the rest of your life.
What book is Nikkiey referencing about building habits?
She is reading The Power of Your Subconscious Mind, which is where she took the idea that habits are built by consciously repeating something until the subconscious takes over.

Nikkiey: What's up, WarriorBabe? Hey, everybody. Nikkiey here, and welcome to our Sunday WarriorBabe Revolution Rally Call. I'm excited to be here with you all and bring some fire with today's topic. I know it's going to resonate with so many of you. How do I know that? Well, first of all, I know our community very well, and second of all, I get this question asked all of the freaking time. You've probably seen it or have asked me in the Q&As, and I'm going to break it down even more today.
And I think it's really going to resonate with you because I gathered it from a book that I'm reading right now. When I read it over the weekend, I was like, oh my God, I have to explain it this way to the community. If it clicked with me this way, it's going to click with you. So that's a little teaser with today's topic. I'm excited to talk about it, so we'll get started in just a few minutes.
Go leave a comment in the Facebook group and let the other WarriorBabes know that this rally call is live right now. They'll want to chime in, because I can guarantee you, whether you're a beginner or a veteran, it doesn't matter where you are in your journey, this call is going to resonate with you. It's going to resonate with them. So go let the Facebook group know that this call is getting started. Go comment and say, "Rally Call is live." All right?
And if you're new to WarriorBabe, I am so excited you're a part of this community. We do these calls every single Sunday at 6 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. If you're new, it's really good to just immerse yourself in everything WarriorBabe. It'll help with the opinions of others. It will help with the things that you've tried in the past. Just eliminate them and immerse yourself here in everything that I'm talking about, that I'm preaching, that I'm helping you gather and do: the skills and the habits I'm helping you establish for yourself, which will create long-lasting results.
So whether you're new or a veteran, I'm excited you're all here. I fucking love our community. It's so inspiring, so motivating, so supportive. So again, welcome to all of the new babes. Veteran babes, excited to hang out with you all right now.
If you're new, I'm going to keep it short and simple and to the point. Make sure you are taking my blast-off emails seriously. For the first 14 days inside this program, I am helping you establish one task per day that will set you up for long-term success here. Once those 14 days are done, you'll be excited and motivated to go every single day and take actions toward your goals. So make sure you are reviewing them and actively participating in them. They're coming to your email inbox each day for the first 14 days.
So again, short and simple with the intro, but I'm super stoked to be here with you all, and I'm going to dive right into the topic. If you missed the beginning, I read this over the weekend, and it really hit home, especially for anybody who is new to macros, or even if you're just having a hard time trying to figure it out. You're getting frustrated. Sometimes you're over or you're under, or you don't know how to make the macros align, or whatever, and it's just defeating you. This is going to help you. And even if you're a veteran, this is going to click so that you can help the other WarriorBabes understand it from this perspective. Okay?
So today's topic is building your habits. Building your habits. Really, this can apply to macros, but it can also apply to the thoughts that you have. It can apply to the way that you look at and view your goals. It can boil down to the actions that you take on a daily basis. That's how you build a habit.
But I'm really going to target it more toward first starting out with macronutrients and understanding them. I'll bring it back to when I first started learning them. It took me weeks to finally be like, okay, I'm going to take this fucking seriously. There would be days at the beginning of the week where I'd track and be like, oh my God, this is so much fucking work. Why am I doing this? And I wasn't taking it seriously. I knew the benefits and I knew that it was super important, but it just required so much work.
No joke, that was when I was switching careers and all this kind of stuff, and I just wasn't taking it seriously. I was like, oh, I don't have enough time, right? I'm getting super vulnerable with you and being really open right now, but that is the same thing I hear from a lot of women who are just learning macronutrients. They feel like there's more responsibility with their work, or there's more effort that needs to be put into other areas of their life.
Well, if you really want to nail down your goals in terms of your body, in terms of reaching the toned physique that you want and feeling more confident and strong, then until somebody says there's something different and better out there, macros is the way to get to those goals. And it requires work, okay? It requires you putting in the effort on a daily basis. It's not, okay, I'm going to try today, or I'm going to track as I go and see where I end up at the end of the day, and then, oh, I didn't do well, I'll try tomorrow. You've got to take it seriously.
I read this over the weekend, so I'm going to read it to you. It's how to build this habit, because that's exactly what this is, okay? You are all creatures of habit. So whatever you've been doing up until this point, obviously it's not working, and you need to break that habit. And the way you break it is by building a new one.
Habit is a function of your subconscious mind. So many people operate on a subconscious level and don't even fucking realize it. A lot of people are not consciously aware. Everybody's operating from the thoughts that they think inside their brain. Sometimes those thoughts aren't even real, but that's another topic for another day. Habit is a function of your subconscious mind.
You've learned to swim. You've learned to ride a bicycle. You've learned to dance. You've learned to drive a car by consciously doing those things over and over and over again until you've established tracks in your subconscious mind. Let me say that again. You have learned to swim, to ride a bicycle, to dance, to drive your car by consciously doing it over and over and over again until you've established tracks in your subconscious mind.
So if you can do the same thing with macronutrients that you did with swimming, riding a bicycle, dancing and learning how to drive a car, by doing it over and over and over again, you will establish these tracks. But you have to consciously put in the effort to do it. You have to consciously say, I'm going to do this. I am going to do this. I'm going to do this today. I'm consciously aware this is going to help me toward my goals. I'm going to sit down and track my macronutrients. I'm not going to get frustrated, because I know I need to do this in order to reach my goals. Okay?
So by consciously doing this over and over and over again, whether you like it or not, whether it's hard at the beginning, yada yada yada, all the bullshit limiting beliefs you want to tell yourself, if you just do it, let go of the limiting beliefs and put more positive thoughts to it, you will establish these tracks in your subconscious mind.
Then, when you've established those tracks in your subconscious mind, the automatic habit action of your subconscious mind takes over. What I mean by that is what people call second nature. That's how I'd describe it now. I can literally do all of this by second nature because I have done it over and over and over again. I've created the automatic habit action of my subconscious mind. It's completely taken over, and it's just second nature, right?
So many of you, and maybe the veterans can speak up to this inside the Facebook community, can share that if you're a year or two years into your macros and you've been doing it over and over again, it's second nature. It's subconscious. I even hear it in my VIP group: "Nikkiey, I don't even think about it anymore. I just do it." And I can fucking guarantee you that it gets easier and easier and easier the more that you do it, and it does turn into second nature.
But you have to put in the work, just like you put in the work with swimming and riding a bicycle and dancing and driving a car, right? You have to put in the work by consciously doing the macros over and over and over again. Okay? Hold on a second, guys. Hopefully you can still hear me. But over and over and over again. You have to consciously put in the effort. And when you do, you establish these tracks in your subconscious mind, and that's where the automatic habit of your subconscious mind takes over. It becomes second nature, which is the reaction of your subconscious mind to your thinking and acting.
I hope this is triggering you. I hope this is like, oh my God, this makes so much sense, even if you're a beginner. There is hope. Macros are like any skill you've learned. You've fucked up riding a bike, right? You've fallen off multiple fucking times, right? You're going to do that with macros. You're going to fall off. But if you can just get better, get better, get better, then it's going to get easier. It's going to get easier. It's going to get easier. And it's going to become second fucking nature. Literally, it's as simple as that. Okay?
You have the ability to choose that. You have the ability to go into the mentality that you're consciously going to put effort into doing this. That's up to you, right? I can talk to you until I'm blue in the face right now. You actually have to put in the effort. That's the fine line between me talking until I'm blue in the face and you getting the results. You have to put in the work. You have to consciously do this. And I can guarantee you, the more you do it, the easier it gets over time.
But don't be like Cheryl, who falls off after two weeks and then goes looking for another program that's more beneficial to her needs. If you can learn this skill, it will serve you for the rest of your life. You just have to put in the effort.
And on that note, I know that was super quick, but it got my point across. That is all I need to say for you to understand this and consciously put in the work to do what is required of you to turn it into second nature. Just like driving a car is second nature. You do it subconsciously. You don't even fucking think when you drive a car, right? I know I'm right. Okay? That same thing can come into macros. It's literally the same exact strategy. Flow. Everything. It just can become second nature. But you've got to put in the work right now. Okay? Mic drop on that one, Nikkiey. For real, though.
So let me know how you liked this rally call. Leave it in the Facebook group, the community. I want some feedback on this, and I want to know if it really resonated with you. Because it's a book that I'm reading right now, which, if you want to know, is The Power of Your Subconscious Mind. This book has so many other little things that I read over the weekend that relate so well to our community. So let me know in the Facebook group if it resonates with you, and that way I can carry this into more rally calls as we go on.
All right, guys. I hope you all have an awesome rest of your evening. Keep crushing it. If you didn't catch the live today in the Facebook community with the swag drop, I am super excited.
