BMI Calculator for Women

Your body mass index, its category and the healthy-weight range for your height, plus what BMI can't tell you.

Your BMI

26.6

Overweight

Healthy-weight range
111–150 lb

BMI only knows height and weight, not what the weight is made of. Women who lift often read "overweight" while carrying little fat. Body fat and waist size tell you more.

How your numbers are worked out

  1. 1BMI is weight in kilograms divided by height in meters squared, with the World Health Organization's categories. Why
  2. 2It can't tell muscle from fat, so women who lift can read high. Why

For education, not medical advice. On a GLP-1 medication, pregnant, or managing a medical condition? Set your numbers with your doctor.

Questions women ask

What is a healthy BMI for a woman?

The World Health Organization's healthy range is 18.5 to 24.9 for adults. It's a screening number, not a diagnosis.

Is BMI accurate for women over 40?

It's a rough guide. It ignores muscle, so strong women can read overweight, and it can miss extra fat around the middle. Waist size and body fat add what it misses.

Does BMI change with age?

The categories don't, but what's healthy may shift slightly with age. Talk to your doctor about what's right for you.

  • The Scale & Tracking Progress

How can I track progress without the scale?

Track the changes the scale can't show: waist and body measurements, side-by-side progress photos, how your clothes fit, and whether you're lifting more than two weeks ago. Nikkiey also watches energy, sleep, cravings, recovery and habits like hitting protein and showing up to train. The scale becomes supporting data, not the decision maker.

  • How to Get Toned

Can you weigh more and look leaner?

Yes. Nikkiey started her journey at 140 pounds and skinny fat, and now weighs 145 to 150 pounds with a smaller waist, visible abs and stronger legs. Muscle is denser than fat and takes up far less space, so building it while losing fat can make you leaner even as the scale holds steady or rises.
