In this video

Most women who never reach their goals aren't short on willpower. They are easily swayed by what other people think. In this Rally Call, Nikkiey Stott talks about social opinions: the comments, jokes and doubts from family, friends, coworkers, husbands and even the news and social media that quietly shape what you believe you can do.

Nikkiey explains that your subconscious mind is like a child's mind. It is always open and takes in everything without knowing right from wrong. That is why a sarcastic remark or a 'you really think you can do this?' can sink in and become a belief system that keeps you stuck months later. She also points out that people only see your goal through their own lens: their beliefs, their egos and the limits they have set for themselves.

Her answer is simple and practical. Notice the opinions that don't line up with your goals, block them, send love to the person, and keep showing up even harder. No one else can see your goals the way you do, so the decisions about them have to be yours.

Key takeaways

  • Mindset has to be in alignment with your goals alongside your nutrition, macros and exercise, because when your thoughts and emotions line up with what you want, your body follows.
  • Your subconscious mind is like a child's mind: always open and taking in what you watch, hear and are told without knowing right from wrong, so pay attention to what you feed it.
  • People's opinions about your goals come only from their own state of mind, beliefs, egos and limiting beliefs, not from what is true for you.
  • Be consciously aware in conversations about your goals, because accepting someone's doubt or ridicule means agreeing that your goal is impossible.
  • Pay attention to joking or competitive comments, including from a husband, and don't let them shape your beliefs about what you can do.
  • When someone doubts you, block it, send them love, tell yourself you know you can do this, and show up even harder.
  • Once you accept someone else's opinion you start building a belief system around it, so reject any opinion that isn't in alignment with your goals.
  • No one sees your goals but you, so make your own decisions and hold the vision in your mind each week.

Questions answered

Why do other people's opinions affect my fitness goals so much?

Nikkiey explains that the subconscious mind is like a child's mind: always open and taking in what it hears without knowing right from wrong. If you accept a friend's or family member's doubt, it can become part of what you believe you can do.

What should I do when my husband jokes that I can't reach my goals?

Nikkiey says to pay attention to that kind of commentary, even when it's meant to be funny or competitive, and not let it interfere with your beliefs. Block it, send him love, remind yourself that you know you can do this, and keep showing up.

Why do friends and family try to pull me back when I start a fitness journey?

According to Nikkiey, people only view your goal through their own beliefs, egos and limiting beliefs, and misery loves company. When you take a step forward, people who aren't doing the same may try to pull you back.

How do I stop doubt from other people from sinking in?

Nikkiey's approach is to stay consciously aware, and if an opinion isn't true to your goal, block it and don't give it thought. She says that as soon as you accept someone else's opinion you start creating a belief system around it.

Will people who doubt me ever come around?

Nikkiey says that if you stay committed, three months later the people who doubted you are often the ones asking you for help. She says she has been in that position many times.

Nikkiey: What's up, WarriorBabe? Hey, everybody. Nikkiey here, and welcome to our WarriorBabe Revolution Rally Call, Sunday evening, 6 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. I am stoked to be here with you guys. I love coming here on Sundays and firing you up with some type of topic that can help you and serve you in the directions that you are going towards your goals. Tonight's topic is going to be a really, really fire one, especially for anybody. At any point of your journey, this is always going to happen.

I can relate so much to it, and I will share that in the mix with the topic that I'm going to discuss. It's going to help beginners out. It's going to help veterans out. Whatever point of your journey you're on, this is going to help you out. So I'm really excited to talk about this. So listen up. Let the Facebook group know that this Rally Call has started. Go in and comment "Rally Call is live," so that way they can tune in and get fired up with this conversation that we're going to chat about today.

I'm going to just nix all of the beginner fluff that I talk about every week and get straight to the point, because honestly, this is one of my favorite topics to talk about. This is what makes you stand out from the rest, from everybody else. This is what makes you stand out and build your own inner self, your own inner confidence, your own path. It makes you stand out from the majority of people. And this topic is something that, from day one, has played a role in my whole entire journey.

That's how I am, guys. I'm always going to bring in topics that I've dealt with or handled or gone through that can help you. Because I've gone through it. I'm kind of on the other side. And I'm helping all of you, babe, see the journey and the path that you have to go on. It's just a clear, straight line. These little tactics that I throw in on a weekly basis will help you break down anything that you may experience. That's one of these topics that I'm talking about. And that way, when you break it down, you're getting closer mentally to the goals you want to accomplish. It's a total mindset shift. It's not just the tactics of the diet and the nutrition and the macros.

You guys know I always talk about that, and the exercise. Yes, those are really, really important strategies for you to get to your goal. But if your mindset's in alignment with what you want and you truly feel that in your heart, you feel it within your emotion, well, guess what? Your energy is going to shift. You're going to be more positive. You're going to be more excited. And when all of that really comes into alignment as one, your body then follows. If your thoughts are not in alignment with the goals that you want, it's going to be an uphill battle trying to get where you want to be.

So mindset is so key and so important for all of you guys to continually be working on on a daily basis. That's why these Rally Calls are mostly around the mindset arena, because it's a huge factor in the goals that you're seeking, especially one like changing your body composition and having a little bit more muscle, which is just socially not the norm for women. That's what I'm going to talk about tonight: social opinions. The majority of people who fail to ever reach their goals, what they see for themselves, are so easily influenced by the opinions of other people, right?

They permit their family members, their friends, their coworkers, even the news and social media to do their thinking for them. These close friends and relatives, while not meaning to do so, often handicap us through their opinions. And sometimes they ridicule, which is sometimes meant to be funny, or they're trying to be sarcastic.

But our subconscious mind is a child's mind. Our subconscious mind is always open. It's constantly receiving whatever you're listening to, the news, the TV shows that you watch. It doesn't know right or wrong. What I'm watching right now on Netflix is Kingdom, right? It's a pretty dark show. But your subconscious picks up on that. It doesn't know right or wrong. It doesn't know good or bad. It's like a kid. It's a kid mindset.

Your subconscious is always, always open. It's a little bit of a side topic, but pay attention to that. The music you listen to, the TV shows you watch, the news that you watch: your subconscious is constantly receiving that and taking it in as either good or bad. It doesn't know. That's up to you, at your conscious level and your awareness, to accept whether it's true or not. And this is where your family members and your friends can come in with their opinions, or sometimes ridicule or sarcasm, which is meant to be funny.

These types of things, those words, can handicap you if you are too fragile. A lot of people, guys, function from their subconscious mind. They are asleep, right? A lot of people don't think on a daily basis. They aren't operating from that awareness level, the conscious level. So if you are accepting what your friends and your family members are saying about your goals, they're handicapping you.

They're handicapping what you want to accomplish through their opinions and sometimes their ridicule, which is sometimes meant to be funny. But they carry these complexes with them through life because, at some point along their way, some other ignorant person destroyed their confidence through that person's opinion or ridicule. So do you see the whole trajectory this could go on? Your cousin could have been made fun of as a kid, which spiraled into their thought process as to why they're fat and why they can't achieve this particular goal.

And then you come in, like, "Hey, cuz, I'm on this fitness journey and I'm feeling so good." He's taking in what you're saying, but only from his own state of mind. So he's going to put an opinion on you, like, "Oh, dude, that sucks. I could never do that," or something like that. You always have to be consciously aware in your conversations with other people, because what they're saying is only coming from their state of mind. And if you accept their opinion or accept their ridicule, that is you thinking that your goal is impossible, or, "Yeah, this person's right, I can't do this."

This is so fucking huge, you guys. You need to watch out for the social opinions of people when it's your goal that you're striving for, because guess what? Your cousin, your friend, they're only operating from their thought process, their beliefs, their egos, their limiting beliefs of what they don't think they can do. And then you come in, like, "Yeah, I'm doing this and I'm doing this," and you're taking that one step forward.

Guess what? Misery loves company. Everybody who may not be doing the same thing as you is going to try to pull you back. But this is what I said at the beginning of this call. This is where you stand out. This is where you pull away from the crowd and show them what you can accomplish, what you can do, because you believe your truth is all that matters. You believe that you can do this, so you do it regardless of the social opinions, regardless of what your friends are saying, what your cousin is saying, what your mom is saying, what your husband is saying.

Guys, it even comes down to the husband. I have talked to so many women whose husbands don't support them, or it's kind of like a competition. It's like, "Oh, really, you think you can do this? I don't think you can do this." And sometimes it's a joke. That's why I say ridicule is sometimes meant to be funny. Well, you've got to pay attention to that kind of commentary, because while your husband might think it's funny, or it's competitive, or "you really think you can do it," don't let that shit interfere with your subconscious mind and your beliefs about what you can actually do.

Look, guys, I guarantee you, if you break past that barrier and opinion and you just keep doing what you know you need to do for your goals, your work ethic, showing up for yourself, because at the end of the day, you're the one who has to lay your head down on the pillow, okay? We're constantly in our own minds. We're constantly replaying our days. "Oh, I fucked up on this. I fucked up on that." Well, guess what?

Or maybe somebody did this, somebody did that. You have control of that, and you have the control to show up for yourself and what's true to you and your goals, and to take action on what's true to you and your goals on a daily basis. Not from what people say. Not from social opinions. Not from what your husband is saying. Not from what your kids are saying, okay? Screw that. Screw it. Anything that is not true to your goal, ignore it. Brush it off. Stay true to your goal. If you hear these opinions, block them.

Put a huge barrier up. Block them. Send love, right? Send love to your husband: "I know I can do this." Send love to your cousin: "I know I can do this." Send love to your kids: "I know I can do this." If somebody is doubting you, show up even harder. Remember that. Because guess what? Even though in that situation, at that point in time, it may be really hard, it may cause a little argument, frustration, whatever, three months from now, when you are still committed and people doubted you, they're going to be the ones asking you for help.

How do I know this? Because I've been in that position one too many times. One too many times, okay? Always remember that with everybody you talk to about your goals, be ready for some kind of different reflection of what you see. And don't allow that to interfere with what you see for yourself. Remember, these people are only viewing what you're saying from their point of view, from their belief system, from their egos, from the daily lives they're going through.

Or the limiting beliefs they've been through. They're only viewing your goal through their lenses. So whatever they say, if you don't believe it, if you know it's not true, block it. Block it. Don't even allow it to come into your space. Don't even give it thought. Don't let it sink down into your subconscious mind. Guys, if you're just tuning in, you have to go back and listen to the beginning, because I explained the subconscious mind on a whole other level. That probably made it really simple to understand what the subconscious mind is. It is always open.

It's constantly receiving. It's like a kid, okay? You need to block anything that is not true to you, because as soon as you accept somebody else's opinion, you start creating a belief system around that, okay? So you can see where all this shit gets twisted. And then three months later, you're still not where you want to be with your goals, because you got lost in a belief system built on somebody else's opinion. Don't accept social opinions that are not in alignment with the goals that you want to accomplish for yourself.

Okay? Because I'll tell you right now, opinions are the cheapest commodities on earth. Everyone has a flock of opinions, and they're ready to wish them upon anybody who's ready to accept them. And who will accept them? If you are influenced by opinions when it comes to making a decision for yourself and your goals, you will not succeed in any achievement, much less in attaining the goals that you want to accomplish for yourself. Okay? Remember this. I'm going to leave you on this note: no one sees your goals.

Only you do. And they only make sense to you. No matter how hard you try to explain it, no matter how hard you try to share that vision with somebody else, it only makes sense to you. Down to the emotion, down to the feeling, down to the energy, it only makes sense to you. So you have to make your own decisions that are in alignment with what you want to accomplish. And you need to block out anything that is not in alignment with what you want to accomplish.

Any social opinions, anybody saying you cannot do this: you can do this. It comes down to the belief in yourself. Don't let anybody, anybody, ever come in and say something that is not true to what you know you can do. Okay? No one sees your goals. Only you do. Remember that, you guys. I'll see you at Wednesday's Q&A, everybody. I hope that fired you up. I hope that just hit home.

Let me know what you guys think in the Facebook group. That was probably one of my favorite Rally Calls. I appreciate your feedback, and I look forward to seeing it inside the group. Now it's a new week. Start fresh. Remember what you want to accomplish. Hold the vision inside your mind and go forth and accomplish it, because you can. You can do it. All right? I love you all, and I'll see you guys on Wednesday. Bye, guys.
